The player of the game works as a security guard in the observation booth of a restaurant that is roughly modeled after Chuck E. Cheese's and has enormous animatronic figures who put on shows for kids as they eat. The player must keep watch over the building's vacant rooms and hallways for the duration of their six-hour graveyard shift because the restaurant, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, closes at night (about nine minutes on the PC version, less on mobile versions).
